Job Summary The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is accountable to surgically scrub in and help with equipment. Helping the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures is a secondary assignment. Prepares room and equipment, transports and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities. Essential Functions of the Role * Helps Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy. * Related duties include: preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures; printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases; circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on forms; monitoring patient's ECG and vital signs in the Catheterization Lab; notifying the Physician of variances; providing emergency procedures like CPR and defibrillation as needed. * Performs pre-and post-procedure care. Monitors and orients patients for specials/catheterization procedures. * Answers related questions to make patient relaxed. Transports patients to and from procedural area. * Communicates relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation on specified medical record forms. * Records, enters into data computer and calculates catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis. * Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self and staff. * Maintains inventory of and orders procedure room supplies. Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use. Key Success Factors * One (1) year clinical experience preferred. * Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required. * Ability to multi-task and self-manager problem solving skills. * Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility. * Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required. * Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques. * Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Diploma/GED Equivalent * EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience * CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION * Basic Life Support (BLS) * ACLS (ACLS): Must obtain ACLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
